There's a reason that our purchase agreements in Indiana have a clause that allows home buyers to assess the HOA rules and regs before proceeding in a contract. Some HOA rules and assessments are RIDICULOUS. Yes, I know most HOAs operate with the best intentions but sometimes they get a little wacky, sometimes a lot expensive without reason and sometimes they simply contradict how you want to live your life in your home. There are too many horror stories out there like THIS that make shudder so as you buy, please have an advocate who knows your needs in the transaction and be proactive...know those HOA rules well ahead of closing!
